Sarah Kinsley’s debut album Escaper is a vibrant, bold and beautiful body of work written solely by this left-field singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

On her new album, Sunset Drive, Denitia shares her story of going after something new — a life back in Nashville, where she attended college, immersed in both the city’s roots music scene and the community of the artist collective Black Opry — while experiencing the menagerie of emotions that come with leaving behind what you knew and starting over. In 2023, Denitia earned one of five spots in a residency hosted by the Black Opry and WXPN, was named to Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country class, and was one of three artists selected for CMT and mtheory’s Equal Access cohort. And the momentum has continued in 2024: Denitia is one of CMT’s 2024 Next Women of Country; was named an artist to watch by the Nashville Scene in January; is making her Grand Ole Opry debut in late June; and will open shows for Mickey Guyton in the fall.

Mj Lenderman is a songwriter born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. The anatomy of an MJ record might go something like this: warped pedal steels and skuzzed out guitar; crackin' a cold one with some buds; a voice reminiscent of the high-lonesome warble of a choirboy. Songs snake their way from a lo-fi home recording to something glossier made with longtime friends at Asheville's Drop of Sun studios, but the recording setting doesn't seem to matter much - at it's core, a Lenderman song rings true.Manning Fireworks is a remarkable development in Mj Lenderman's story as an incredibly incisive singer-songwriter, whose propensity for humor always points to some uneasy, disorienting darkness. The brand-new album by David Gilmour, ‘Luck and Strange’ was recorded over five months in Brighton and London and is Gilmour’s first album of new material in nine years. The record was produced by David and Charlie Andrew, best known for his work with ALT-J and Marika Hackman, with lyrics mostly written by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s co-writer for the past thirty years.

 

The album features eight new tracks along with a beautiful reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers’ ‘Between Two Points’, which sees Romany Gilmour, who performs backing vocals across the album, on vocals and harp.

 

Musicians contributing to the record include Guy Pratt & Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry & Roger Eno on keyboards and the string and choral arrangements are by Will Gardner. The title track also features the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright, recorded in 2007 during a ‘Barn Jam’ at David’s house.

Indie Exclusive - Include 4 bonus tracks - Formed from the remnants of Californian pop group 'The Young Swingers,' 1965 marked a pivotal moment for the members of the psychedelic folk-rock group 'Ashes.' Originating in Santa Monica, the original lineup of Alan Brackett, Jim Cherniss, Spencer Dryden, John Merrill, and Barbara Robinson began playing local clubs and released two now-obscure singles in 1965. By 1966, they adopted the name 'Ashes' and underwent personnel changes, with Cherniss departing and Dryden leaving to join Jefferson Airplane. Brackett and Merrill subsequently formed The Peanut Butter Conspiracy but reformed 'Ashes' in 1968 with new singer Pat Taylor and drummer John Voight. Recorded in 1968 and produced by Jackie Mills, the self-titled "Ashes" is a dreamy, acid folk-rock piece that was initially shelved but released by Vault Records in 1971. Now reissued on blue vinyl with extra recordings, this album is an excellent slice of mid-1960s Southern California lite-rock.

The band, originally known as Tripsichord Music Box before shortening their name, was part of the burgeoning San Francisco music movement. Composed by John Williams, the score for Raiders of the Lost Ark was the only score in the series performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, the same orchestra that performed the scores for the Star Wars saga. The score is most notable for it's inclusion of the iconic and now ubiquitous 'Raiders March,' which came to symbolize Indiana Jones and was later used in the scores for all subsequent films. Raiders of the Lost Ark received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score in 1981.
