The Long Ear first opened our doors in Oct. of 1973. We began our musical journey in the small mountain community of Big Bear Lake, Ca.
Yes – a cozy 16 x 30 building that had plenty of room for our 400 LPs, 88 8-Tracks & 3 cassettes.
We are now a member of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores. NOT ONE DOMINO SHALL FALL!
This worked out well for about 3 years, when we decided to expand to a 3,000′ space – with green shag carpet…3 blocks down the street.
This location had the added bonus of including a Pool Hall ! By this time, we also sold several brands of stereo equipment and Radio Shack. Big Bear was a fun place to start our family AND our business.
1985 brought another move – to Coeur d’Alene. Our 1st & 2nd locations were on Government Way.
Now, at our current ‘digs’ (2405 N. 4th Street) we are really glad to have made the move up here. And we see no moves in our immediate future.
We carry new & used CDs & LPs with a few used cassettes. Body jewelry, incense & burners, stickers, posters, hookahs, tapestries, fair trade purses & clothing are a few other and jewelry are some of the items we carry. We order music three days a week & usually have a fast special order turn around.
